Project 365 – Day 64
Our fence is finally done and although it is exactly what I needed to protect some of our privacy from the peeping neighbor next door, I have lost my beautiful view in the process. Suddenly I looked out my lovely kitchen widows to see…
BIG -YELLOW -FENCE.
A ghastly view from the inside, but from the outside it is almost tolerable.
Somehow in the midst of my fence hating moments, the fence has also become a friend, a little piece of security, that I had taken away from me many years ago when the peeping neighbor moved in. I have never felt comfortable in my yard, always feeling the glaring eyes on my person as I gardened, or played with the children. Now I feel just a wee bit empowered and strengthened that God gave me a little of my peace back. The neighbor is still there, standing real close to the fence, hanging on every word he hears and letting you know of his presence, but I still feel better. Hidden if you will.
Enough so that I have aptly named our yard The Compound.
I am somewhere between feeling like a prisoner and bird, free to fly as she chooses. Maybe by next week I’ll be able to settle on one or the other. Until then….no Waco jokes. K?

Don’t worry, just plant some bushes in front of that fence… maybe some that flower. It is MUCH better than dealing with a nosey neighbor!
I’m so glad this worked out for you. I know you were worried that guy wouldn’t get a day off to work on it! Did he do it or did you just conquer it yourself? That’s a rhetorical question, by the way. I can’t wait to catch that guy listening through the fence at our conversations next week.
I’ve already started making plans on what he’s going to hear….

Or if the peeping neighbor has allergies, perhaps some nice jasmine or plantain on his side of the yard.
Marigolds are also a good idea. Just hang some pots at nose level.

But the fence isn’t that bad.. do you have such a thing as ’star jasmine’ over there? gorws fast, will climb all over the fence and cover it with lovely green leaves and lots of white sweet smelling flowers!
I think the fence is fine – and second all the flower suggestions. I have a tray exactly like your trying to start some new herbs. Yours looks better though. hmmm….

Yeah! It looks wonderful, all shiny and new. I love shiny and new, why don’t they find a way so ’shiny and new’ lasts more than a season. Enjoy your privacy and the shiny part of your new fence. Did I say I love shiny?!
