Does anyone know where I can take a photography class?
Seriously.
Leave it to me to not be prepared when I come across a beautiful place. The kind of place you don’t find too often. Out of almost 150 photos, about 10 were viewable, but I couldn’t let the scenery go to waste, so here are the three I liked best. Thank heavens for Photoshop.
Next time, I will make sure I have my lens hood so I won’t ruin 50 shots with serious lens flare. I will reduce the strength of my fill flash to illuminate my subject in the blasted sun, or at least use my reflector. I will capture the tons of butterflies that you don’t see - because I am a ninny. I will bring my Teva’s so I can step on the rocks in the river without killing myself. I will not chop of my daughter’s back half on the only decent shot of her in the water and I will bring better tools for bribing. Lots and lots of tools.
Oh yeah…and a sandwich would be good.

I took the girls to the park today to alleviate some stress, but Bella wasn’t in the mood and it took a lot of effort to get her to play and then she fizzled right out.
She has been extremely tired lately, unusually so, and I’m a bit worried. I made an appointment with the doctor on Monday to have her checked. I figure since she has been spending so much time in the woods, she may have been but by a tick that went unnoticed. Stranger things have happened and I am always better airing on the side of caution.

Other than looking like someone threw her into a bag of cats, mom is doing fabulous!

Well I am finally home after a long stressful day of waiting, but the great news is, my mom is doing fine. She came through the surgery better than expected and that is a very good sign.
The surgery lasted about nine hours and the waiting was intensely emotional, but God is good and she is finally past the hardest part.
When I left she was in the ICU with a breathing tube in and still fairly sedated, but she heard my voice and tried to crack a smile, true to the sweet always-thinking-of-someone-else-mama she is.
Well, it’s time for bed, but here are a few pictures I snapped today while walking around New Haven trying to take my mind off the surgery.
