Surgery Day Approaches My Fat Little Man
Jun 242008

Well I am finally home after a long stressful day of waiting, but the great news is, my mom is doing fine.  She came through the surgery better than expected and that is a very good sign.

The surgery lasted about nine hours and the waiting was intensely emotional, but God is good and she is finally past the hardest part.

When I left she was in the ICU with a breathing tube in and still fairly sedated, but she heard my voice and tried to crack a smile, true to the sweet always-thinking-of-someone-else-mama she is.

Well, it’s time for bed, but here are a few pictures I snapped today while walking around New Haven trying to take my mind off the surgery.

  5. You must be very happy about your mother, and fortunately you had your camera! I really love the one in the middle.

After messing up my feed so much, I’m afraid to try Mr. Linky again, but it sure is tempting, considering it’s working for you…

Love the photos. A few years back (pre-divorce) I gathered up my family and we took the train from Denver all the way to New Haven to meet up with my folks for a summer vacation at their CT cottage (which is not far from New Haven). Thanks for bringing back a nice memory with these great pictures.

(Oh, and I’m glad your mom is doing well.)

Sorry for the double-post, but I wanted to add that I’m glad to hear your stressful day is behind you, and that your mother is stable. I don’t know what the surgery was for, but 9 hours under GA is a long time. No wonder you were so stressed! I hope her recovery continues to be smooth and rapid.

Stopped by for Wordless Wednesday, but after reading this post I wanted to let you know I’m thinking of you and your Mom. My Dad has had several surgeries and I know that feeling of seeing your parent in the hospital bed with the breathing tube-big hugs for you.
