My Peaceful Place

July 12, 2008

365/151

I sit here every morning waiting for the sun to rise; drinking in wisdom for the day ahead and listening to the birds sing their morning song.  I covet every moment of time spent here, but it is never enough.

Just about the time the sun peeks over the tall hedges, I hear it……

“Mommeeeeeee!  Can I have milk!”

Sweet Jesus, please just a little longer.

I’m so envious of your will to be up before the sun is. Right now I have inspiration to follow your footsteps. When the alarm would go off – not so much.

I think those exact thoughts every morning, but I, unlike you, are still cozy under the sheets.

I agree with javamamma, you are an inspiration – I’m a throughthelense “student” and it has opened my eyes. Thank you.

I only get peaceful if I wake up early enough! Obviously, staying up too late does not exactly motivate me to get up with the sunrise… or any time before 9am for that matter (even if all my kids can actually pour their own milk and make their own bowl of cereal– I can’t believe it took me so long to put the cereal and bowls in the BOTTOM cabinet!).

    But I digress.

And I better go too so I can get up when I really like to get up– around 6:30am! I’m weird like that… I’m a morning person. But when David is actually home he really doesn’t want me to set an alarm… and then he’s good about quietly getting out of bed and keeping the kids quiet. While the rest is nice, starting the day at 10am does not exactly keep things on schedule.

Well, I wish we could be neighbors so I could help you paint your door purple and have a cup of coffee together!
