I wonder when the day will come at my house when there will be no accidents, drama, or other undesirable events.
I know, I know. Never.
Anyone that knows me in real life can tell you, the number of things that go on around here are as numerous as the stars in the sky and last week was no different. My eighty-five-year-old dad decided to play footsie with a short fence in the yard and fell backwards onto a 4×4 post sticking up a foot out of the ground.
I arrived just in time to call 911, praise God, and just as I suspected, multiple broken ribs and a punctured lung. He is in total denial of his age, which I suppose is a good thing, with the exception of days like these. And don’t you know, I came home yesterday to find him taking a walk up the street, holding his side.
He might not be too old for this, but I am.

That sounds dreadful! I am so relating to your post right now after caring for my MIL for two years until she passed away. It’s exhausting!

OUCH! I’m so sorry that you have to go through so much, Hallie. But glad that you were there for your dad and that he’s home sweet home now.
I do see a resemblance between you and him!
But don’t worry, you don’t look 85.
