Blue Thistle Books

If you homeschool, you may already know about Blue Thistle Books, if you don’t then I hope you read on.

Blue Thistle Books is our children’s book store that specializes in homeschool curriculum and educational products for homeschoolers.

We opened Blue Thistle Books in August of 2004 selling used books on eBay.  We now carry upwards of 2000 products and we’re still growing.

A lot of people have asked me why and how we got started selling curriculum and to tell you the truth, ignorance played a big part in the decision.  I honestly had absolutely no idea what I was getting myself and my poor family into.

I was about to be a single parent, yet I knew God had called me to homeschool.  Even though I worked part time at night, it was not enough to live on.  I had no idea how I was going to provide for my family in the future and still be a homeschool mom.  But as usual, God didn’t need my help and Blue Thistle Books was born.

Today, my oldest (20) and my middle child (14) share in the responsibilities that come with running a family business…..and as well, some days they like it and some days they don’t.  But I am fairly certain you won’t hear any complaining on payday.

So you might be wondering what makes Blue Thistle Books different from any other curriculum store?  And, since I don’t have the time to be checking out other like businesses, I can only tell you what our customers like.

We keep almost every product we sell in stock.  For us that means, that we are surrounded by shelves and shelves of books and toys and for you that means, your shipment will be sent immediately, usually the next day.

If we don’t stock a product, or have run out, we have it drop-shipped directly to you from the distributor, so you will rarely have to wait, unless the distributor is back-ordered, in which case, we all wait.

Whenever you buy from Blue Thistle Books, you have the option of using Media Mail to have your product shipped.  Media Mail is the least expensive shipping option and although it may take a bit longer, it will save you tons on shipping costs!  However, if you should choose not to use Media Mail, we also offer shipping through USPS and UPS, so you will have more options and ultimately more control over your choice in shipping.

Not only do we accept all major credit cards, but you also have the option to use your PayPal card during checkout, send a money order, or write a check.  For all you locals, we DELIVER!!  Within 10 miles that is…unless I am feeling particularly generous, and since I don’t like driving, it’s not likely going to happen, but I do have customers that meet me half way!  So just hit the pick-up/delivery option during checkout and email me to make arrangements.

We also have a email-able wish list that you can use while you are shopping.  This comes in real handy when you are sending your list to a grandparent that has been kind enough to foot part of your curriculum costs for the year!  Or so you hope.

So I hope this has answered some nagging questions about who I am and what we do and I thank all of you that have continued to support our family and allow us to continue homeschooling!  We know God is able and will meet our every need!
